59 RVOS Offshore Vessels to be Equipped With DP-2 Systems By Praxis Automation
Praxis Automation, a company specializing in ship automation, electrical propulsion, and dynamic positioning systems, has entered into a contract to provide Saudi-based Rawabi Vallianz Offshore Services (RVOS) with Praxis DP-2 systems for 59 of its vessels.
Under this fleet-wide contract, both new build and existing offshore support vessels in the RVOS fleet will be equipped with Praxis dynamic positioning systems, along with customized equipment and software for fleet digitization, implemented in phases as agreed with RVOS.
The project includes the conversion of 39 vessels with existing DP systems to Praxis DP-2 systems and the supply of Praxis DP-2 systems to 20 newbuild vessels ordered by RVOS from other regions.
Ahmed Alqadeeb, Managing Director of Rawabi Energy, stated that Praxis Automation had already demonstrated their performance in an earlier successful DP-1 to DP-2 retrofit project on 14 RVOS ships, making them a reliable technology partner. With this new contract, RVOS aims to enhance its fleet's status, becoming known for its technological prowess and digitalized operations, particularly catering to the needs of Saudi Aramco.
Dynamic positioning (DP) systems are crucial for offshore vessels as they allow them to maintain their position and heading without the need for anchors. DP-2 systems, in particular, provide an even higher level of redundancy and reliability, making them suitable for demanding offshore operations.
