Borr Drilling Secures Additional West Africa Contracts for Two Jack-Up Rigs
Offshore drilling contractor Borr Drilling has successfully secured a letter of award (LOA) for the deployment of two premium jack-up rigs in West Africa.
The Prospector 5 and Natt jack-up rigs, currently engaged in operations for Eni in Congo, have been granted this LOA. The arrangement stipulates that the Prospector 5 and Natt rigs will remain under contract until May 2026 and December 2025, respectively. The upcoming projects are anticipated to span a combined duration of 1,307 days and are valued at approximately $211 million. These contracts are set to initiate immediately after the conclusion of the rigs' existing assignments.
The Prospector 5 rig, constructed in 2014 and designed by Friede & Goldman in the JU2000E model, can accommodate up to 140 personnel. With a capability to operate in water depths of up to 400 feet and a maximum drilling depth of 35,000 feet, the rig is well-equipped for its upcoming endeavors.
On the other hand, the Natt rig, built in 2018 and designed as part of the PPL Pacific Class 400 model, can house up to 150 personnel. Boasting a maximum drilling capacity of 30,000 feet and the capacity to operate in water depths of up to 400 feet, the Natt rig is ready to undertake its forthcoming assignments.
Borr Drilling's overall contract revenue backlog, as of the end of June 2023, stands at $1.65 billion. Recently, Ocean Oilfield completed the reactivation and enhancement work on one of Borr Drilling's jack-up rigs. This rig has now departed the shipyard to commence its new drilling mission in the Middle East.
