BW Energy, an oil and gas company, has successfully brought online the fourth well of the Hibiscus / Ruche Phase 1 development in the Dussafu license offshore Gabon. The DHIBM-6H well was drilled horizontally from the MaBoMo production facility to a total depth of 4,125 meters into the Gamba sandstone reservoir at the Hibiscus field. The well's performance is in line with expectations, with current production at approximately 6,500 barrels per day.
Following the completion of the fourth well, the Borr Norve jack-up rig has commenced drilling operations on the fifth production well, DRM-3H, which will be the first Ruche Gamba well in this drilling campaign.
Carl Krogh Arnet, CEO of BW Energy, expressed satisfaction with the progress of the drilling program, highlighting strong health, safety, and environmental (HSE) results and robust production rates. He also noted that the company consistently receives well data confirming excellent reservoir quality, potentially positively impacting reserve estimates for Hibiscus.
However, BW Energy reported that DHIBM-3H and -4H wells have encountered issues with electrical submersible pumps (ESPs), and investigations into the cause are ongoing. DHIBM-4H is currently flowing naturally at 2,800 barrels per day, while DHIBM-3H is temporarily not producing as solutions are being pursued.
The Dussafu license's current gross production has reached approximately 26,500 barrels per day with the addition of the fourth Hibiscus well. The drilling campaign aims to target four Hibiscus Gamba and two Ruche Gamba wells, with expectations to increase total oil production to approximately 40,000 barrels per day when all wells are completed by early 2024.
The oil produced at Hibiscus / Ruche is transported via pipeline to the BW Adolo FPSO (Floating Production, Storage, and Offloading) for processing, storage, and eventual offloading to export tankers.
