In a noteworthy offshore project off the coast of Angola, Claxton, a key player in the Acteon Group's energy services division, has successfully undertaken the engineering and installation services for a jacket support structure. This project, executed in collaboration with Acteon brands 2H and LDD, focused on reinforcing the structure for two platform jackets.
The limited deck space on the vessel presented challenges, leading to a modified layout and a project-specific methodology for deploying the 18Te hammer, with detailed plans required to address in-country logistics and mobilization challenges. The project enlisted the expertise of 2H for engineering, Claxton for pile installation equipment, and LDD for subsea grouting equipment.
Key strategies included mobilizing backup equipment due to the remote location and formulating contingency plans for potential diver-related issues. Claxton's early engagement and understanding of customer needs played a crucial role in optimizing equipment and developing an efficient methodology. The successful execution of driving four piles to a depth of 70 ft, along with a comprehensive subsea grouting operation, showcased the team's commitment to safety and efficiency.
The project, which confirmed the suitability of the S-90 subsea hydro hammer, demonstrated Claxton's dedication to meeting customer needs and delivering an end-to-end integrated solution. This achievement adds to Acteon's track record of success in the energy sector, with various business arms securing multiple projects, including InterMoor's contract extension with Chevron and a contract to deliver mooring piles to LLOG Exploration Offshore for a floating production system in the Gulf of Mexico.
