In a strategic move to optimize its fleet, DOF Group's subsidiary, DOF Rederi, has initiated the divestment of one of its platform supply vessels (PSVs). The decision, announced on December 13, 2023, follows a series of recent successes and contracts secured by DOF Group across various regions.
DOF Rederi has entered into an agreement to sell the medium-sized PSV Skandi Captain, built in 2004, to an undisclosed international buyer. The vessel, designed as an MT 6009-FSV with a length overall (LOA) of 74.3 meters, can accommodate 21 people. The completion of the sale is anticipated in the first quarter of 2024, with DOF Group emphasizing that the divestment will yield a positive accounting effect.
The decision to downsize the fleet through the sale of Skandi Captain comes amid a period of significant activity for DOF Group. Notably, just a month prior to this announcement, DOF secured a contract with Subsea7 and entered into an agreement with Maersk Supply Service for two construction vessels. Furthermore, the company obtained three new service contracts with Petrobras, totaling over $260 million.
DOF Group's success extends beyond vessel sales, as the firm received a vessel extension in September 2023, coupled with a new long-term contract for one of its anchor handling tug and supply (AHTS) vessels with Equinor earlier in the year. The company also secured multiple new jobs in the Atlantic region and inked a contract extension in Brazil, in addition to securing new deals in West Africa and the North Sea.
The divestment of the PSV Skandi Captain underscores DOF Group's commitment to strategic fleet management and optimization. While downsizing its fleet, the company continues to forge ahead with lucrative contracts and extensions in various regions, showcasing resilience and adaptability in a dynamic maritime industry. The sale is poised to contribute positively to DOF Group's overall operational efficiency and financial performance.
