Global Marine, a provider of engineering and underwater services, has secured a contract with Subsea 7 to provide personnel and equipment to support the delivery of a submarine fibre optic link between platforms in the North Sea for UK oil and gas major, BP.

Under the contract, Global Marine will be providing jointing personnel to work with Subsea 7 in delivering platform-to-platform connectivity from the existing Clair platform, 50 miles west of the Shetland Isles, in the North Sea, to the new Clair Ridge platform.

The company said its team will work aboard Subsea 7’s diving support vessel Seven Falcon.

Global Marine added that, on the Clair Ridge project, jointing and deck personnel will provide expertise, utilising the Universal Quick Joints, and jointers will conduct splicing operations.

“We are delighted to be working for Subsea 7, and ultimately BP. The continued recognition of our knowledge and capabilities by major players in the industry is a great reflection on Global Marine’s journey in subsea engineering,” says Nicola Broom, Director, Sales & Commercial at Global Marine.

“At Global Marine we have a long and rich history in submarine cable installation and maintenance and we look forward to applying these skills to complete the Clair Ridge project. To do this we will utilise one of our core strengths, our highly trained and experienced staff.”
