Neptune Energy has announced the successful start of gas production from its operated Adorf Z18 well, located in the municipality of Georgsdorf in northwestern Germany. The Z18 well, situated in the Carboniferous formation, is expected to boost Neptune's production from the Adorf license by approximately 1,900 barrels of oil equivalent per day (boed) to reach around 8,200 boed.
Earlier this year, Neptune Energy also completed the construction of a dedicated processing plant at the site to treat the gas produced from the well.
Andreas Scheck, Neptune Energy's Managing Director in Germany, expressed excitement about the Adorf Carboniferous field development, which he considers one of the company's most promising activities in Germany. The success of the project reflects Neptune's commitment to growing its business in the region.
Neptune Energy's primary assets are concentrated in the North German basin, the Altmark, and the Rhine Valley, offering a diverse gas and liquid production portfolio with fields at various stages of the production cycle. Among these assets, the Roemerberg oil field and the Adorf gas field are two of the most promising exploration and production (E&P) projects within the country, according to the company.
The Adorf gas field was discovered in 2020, with its first well, Adorf Z15, brought into production the same year. Subsequently, Adorf Z16 commenced production at the beginning of 2022, followed by Adorf Z17, which increased Neptune's production from the license to around 6,300 boed in June 2023.
Neptune Energy owns 100 percent of the Adorf Carboniferous gas field, further solidifying its position in the region's energy market.
Currently, Neptune Energy operates ten gas fields and six oil fields in the area, with Bramberge, Ringe, Adorf/Scheerhorn, and Adorf Carboniferous among the most productive fields. The Bramberge field has produced over 144 million barrels of oil equivalent since its production started, and development projects in the field aim to maintain its productivity for several more decades.
The oil produced from Neptune's operations is transported via pipeline to the BP refinery in Lingen. Additionally, the natural gas is fed into the Erdgas Münster network and resold to customers. Neptune Energy's operations contribute significantly to the energy supply and economy of the region, supporting its commitment to sustainable and responsible energy production.
