The recent arrival of Noble Corporation's jack-up rig, Noble Intrepid, at the Port of Aberdeen marks a significant step in the initiation of reactivation work scopes before its deployment for Harbour Energy's field operations in the North Sea. The Port of Aberdeen, responsible for facilitating the rig's maintenance and reactivation procedures, has announced its readiness to provide comprehensive quayside services throughout the rig's stay.
Following the completion of the reactivation work, the Noble Intrepid is scheduled to undertake a ten-month contract with Harbour Energy, encompassing accommodation services at the Judy field in the UK North Sea. Valued at a day rate of $95,000, the contract is slated to commence in December 2023 and conclude in September 2024.
Harbour Energy retains the option to extend the contract duration, with two one-month options for accommodation services at $95,000 and an additional three-month option for well services at $120,000. If exercised, these options will contribute to an extended five-month tenure for the rig under Harbour Energy's operations.
The Port of Aberdeen's recent opening of the Aberdeen South Harbour, inaugurated by Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal on September 22, has provided a pivotal logistical hub for supporting the rig's maintenance and operational needs.
Semco Maritime, the operations manager for the rig at Port of Aberdeen South Harbour, emphasized the significant involvement of local resources in facilitating the rig's maintenance projects. Phillip MacDonald, Semco Maritime's Operations Manager, expressed enthusiasm for the opportunities presented by the rig's presence, highlighting the positive implications for the city of Aberdeen and its surrounding regions.
Previously, the Noble Intrepid concluded a substantial drilling campaign with OMV in Norway, followed by a ten-month stay at the UK's Kishorn port for additional operations. The rig's versatility, constructed at the Keppel FELS shipyard in Singapore, reflects its capability to accommodate 150 individuals and operate within a water depth of 492 feet. With a maximum drilling depth of 40,000 feet, the 2014-built Noble Intrepid is a testament to cutting-edge engineering and operational efficiency in offshore exploration endeavors.
