PETRONAS, Malaysia's state-owned oil and gas company, has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with AIQ, an Abu Dhabi-based technology company, to jointly develop Artificial Intelligence (AI) solutions aimed at accelerating the energy transition and promoting sustainability across energy operations.

AIQ is at the forefront of driving industrial transformation through the application of artificial intelligence (AI) technology.

The MoU was signed by Dr. Sambasivam Rajamani, PETRONAS Head of Data Science, and Saravan Kumar Penubarthi, AIQ Chief Technology Officer. The signing was witnessed by Aadrin Azly, PETRONAS Vice President of Group Technology and Commercialisation, and Dr. Ahmed Salem, AIQ Senior Vice President of Commercial and Business Development.

The partnership between PETRONAS and AIQ aims to leverage their profound insights into the energy industry to collaborate on digital innovation. The collaboration encompasses knowledge sharing, value creation, joint product development and commercialization, capability enhancement, and engineering solutions.

As part of the collaboration, PETRONAS and AIQ will work together to pilot and test AI solutions that can bring value to various business verticals in the energy sector on a global scale. They will also jointly develop best practices and frameworks for AI and Advanced Analytics to ensure operational and commercial excellence throughout their collaborative projects.

Aadrin Azly, Vice President of PETRONAS Group Technology and Commercialisation, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, stating that it aligns with the company's goals through its AI Centre of Excellence (AI CoE) to transform operations and enhance employee skills with AI technology.

Omar Al Marzooqi, CEO of AIQ, emphasized the significance of this partnership in accelerating the digital transformation of the energy sector toward a more sustainable future. He highlighted the importance of efficient digital solutions to address the challenges of climate change and ensure the industry's progression.

In addition to developing AI solutions, PETRONAS and AIQ will initiate capability development programs to enhance the skills of their workforce. The collaboration seeks to drive innovation and efficiency across the energy sector in line with the global energy transition agenda.
