Seabird Exploration Secures 2D Survey Contract in Eastern Hemisphere
Norwegian marine seismic survey services company Seabird Exploration has been awarded a Letter of Award for a 2D survey contract in the Eastern Hemisphere from a repeat client. The contract is expected to have a duration of approximately three months, with a planned start date in mid-Q4 2023, subject to customary permitting and prefunding approvals.
The announcement did not provide specific details about the client's identity or the exact location of the survey.
Additionally, Seabird Exploration provided an update on its contract for the vessel Eagle Explorer. The OBN source contract for the Eagle Explorer has been extended by approximately one month, with completion now expected in late September. The Special Periodic Survey (SPS), originally scheduled to start in September 2023, has also been postponed by about one month, moving it from Q3 to Q4 2023.
The company noted that this adjustment would result in higher utilization in Q3 than previously guided, while the SPS downtime would be shifted to Q4 2023.
Seabird Exploration's vessels, including the Fulmar Explorer, have been involved in various offshore seismic survey activities in different regions. The company also mentioned a significant two-year contract for the Fulmar Explorer, signed in July, which will keep the vessel engaged until September 2025.
