BrasFELS Shipyard, a member of the Singapore-based Seatrium Group, has been awarded a contract by Offshore Frontier Solutions Pte. Ltd, a MODEC Group company, to complete portions of the topside modules fabrication for a Floating Production, Storage, and Offloading (FPSO) unit destined for the Raia project in Brazil. The Raia project is operated by Equinor ASA and is located in the giant pre-salt area in the southern part of the Campos Basin, around 124 miles (200 kilometers) off the coast of Rio de Janeiro.
BrasFELS' scope of work for the FPSO Raia includes the fabrication of three modules: vapor recovery unit/flare knockout, oil separation and stabilization, and the flowline circulation, metering, and utility systems. The project is set to commence in the first quarter of 2024, and when completed, the FPSO Raia is expected to have the capacity to process 126,000 barrels of oil per day and 16 million cubic meters of gas per day, with a storage capacity of two million barrels of crude oil.
Seatrium, the parent company, expressed satisfaction with the partnership with MODEC on this FPSO topside modules fabrication project, reinforcing Seatrium's position as a global leader in FPSO new builds and conversions. The company has a robust track record, having delivered over 260 Floating Production Unit (FPU) and FPSO conversions and new builds.
This contract follows Seatrium's recent delivery of the floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) Alexandroupolis, the first FSRU in Greece, to GAS-fifteen Ltd, a subsidiary of GasLog LNG Services. The FSRU will be deployed in the waters southwest of the Port of Alexandroupolis in Northern Greece, supplying the markets of Southeastern Europe with natural gas.
Seatrium, formerly known as Sembcorp Marine Ltd, operates shipyards and facilities globally, including in Singapore, Brazil, China, Indonesia, Japan, the Philippines, Norway, the United Kingdom, and the USA. The company provides engineering solutions to the offshore, marine, and energy industries.
