TMC Compressors Chosen to Supply Marine Compressed Air System for Newbuild FPSO
China Merchant Heavy Industries (CMHI) has recently selected TMC Compressors (TMC) to provide a complete marine compressed air system for a newly constructed FPSO (Floating Production, Storage, and Offloading) vessel. The FPSO is being built for SBM Offshore, a leading Dutch FPSO leasing firm.
TMC's contract includes the delivery of a high-capacity marine compressed air system, including compressors for control and service air, to be utilized onboard the FPSO. The equipment will be manufactured and assembled in Europe and subsequently transported to CMHI in China. While the value of the contract remains undisclosed, TMC highlighted its strong track record with both CMHI and SBM Offshore, citing several of SBM Offshore's existing FPSOs already equipped with TMC's marine compressed air systems.
Designed specifically for offshore and marine use, TMC's marine compressed air system is engineered to enable vessel crews to conduct equipment maintenance independently. The company emphasized its commitment to providing highly reliable equipment, in line with SBM Offshore's stringent uptime requirements, particularly given the remote offshore locations where FPSOs are typically stationed.
In related news, SBM Offshore recently secured contracts to conduct front-end engineering and design (FEED) for an FPSO for the Whiptail development project in Guyana, led by ExxonMobil. If awarded the final engineering, procurement, construction, and installation (EPCI) contract, this would mark the fifth FPSO commissioned by SBM Offshore for deployment in Guyana.
