Trillion Energy, a Canadian oil and gas company, has made a significant gas discovery in the sixth well of its ongoing multi-well drilling campaign in the Black Sea off the coast of Turkey.
The Alapli-2 well, part of Trillion Energy's drilling program at the SASB gas field, reached a total measured depth of 3,258 meters on July 16, 2023. The company confirmed the presence of abundant gas pay in this well.
Preliminary analysis of the gas measurements in the mud logging results indicates over 40 meters of potential natural gas pay within six separate sands in the Akçakoca Member of the SASB production zone.
The logging while drilling data is currently being evaluated, and the 7" production casing will be installed and cemented. Trillion Energy is in the process of selecting the initial perforation intervals to bring the well into production.
Completion and flow testing will take place once the well is perforated, with results expected to be announced in the coming week. The nearby Alapli-1 well tested at a rate of 7.1 million cubic feet per day (MMcf/d) from three zones with a measured thickness of 15 meters.
Arthur Halleran, CEO of Trillion Energy, expressed his satisfaction with the progress: "The Alapli-2 well gives Trillion Energy six successful wells at SASB. The success of this technically challenging project has provided the spotlight on Trillion to attract new and exciting additional projects, which will be revealed over the next few weeks."
Trillion Energy previously disclosed flow test results for the Bayhanli-2 well in June 2022, and for the South Akçakoca-2, Akçakoca-3, West Akçakoca-1, and Guluc-2 wells in November 2022 and March 2023.
As part of its development program for the SASB field, Trillion Energy plans to add three sidetrack wells, increasing the total number of wells in the Black Sea drilling campaign from 17 to 20.
