Weatherford Secures Five-Year Contract for DPR Intervention Services with Petrobras
Weatherford International plc has successfully won a competitive tender to secure a five-year contract with Petróleo Brasileiro S.A. (Petrobras) in Brazil. The contract involves providing Drill Pipe Riser (DPR) ultra deepwater offshore intervention systems and services. The new seven-system contract is scheduled to commence operations in March 2025, replacing a current six-system contract that started in November 2020.
Weatherford's Intervention Workover Control Systems (IWOCS) will play a key role in the contract, offering comprehensive solutions for tasks such as tubing-string or tubing-hanger installation, well testing and appraisal, spool-base activities, and both vertical and horizontal Christmas tree installation. The IWOCS also address wellhead-tree cap installation, well-intervention operations with workover blowout preventer, and oil or gas production for early well tests.
As part of its commitment to innovation, Weatherford will integrate its Centro well construction optimization platform into the solution. The Centro platform, known for its cutting-edge digitalization capabilities, provides exceptional operational visibility and performance enhancements.
Girish Saligram, Weatherford President and CEO, expressed satisfaction with the new contract, emphasizing Weatherford's experience in subsea intervention services to extend the productive life of assets. The contract further strengthens Weatherford's presence in the Brazilian market, highlighting the company's commitment to delivering high-quality services and fostering a longstanding partnership with Petrobras.
