Hartlepool-based nationwide oil distribution firm, Your NRG, has announced a significant collaboration with Shell to introduce a more environmentally friendly fuel option throughout the UK. The independent oil supplier, with a workforce of 155 employees, has joined forces with global energy leader Shell to distribute Shell’s GTL Fuel to agricultural enterprises.

Shell's GTL (gas-to-liquid) Fuel serves as a synthetic alternative to diesel, showcasing markedly reduced levels of harmful substances compared to conventional crude oils, resulting in fewer greenhouse emissions. Your NRG, which annually supplies over 300 million litres of fuel to homes and businesses across the nation, views this partnership as a substantial stride towards achieving its own environmental objectives, aligned with the UK's net zero aspirations.

Lee Reason, Commercial Director of Your NRG, emphasized the significance of becoming an "authorized distributor" of the cleaner GTL fuel, heralding it as a pivotal advancement in the UK's future fuels market. Reason expressed confidence that Shell’s GTL Fuel would significantly contribute to realizing a cleaner, greener future and supporting the company's ambitious net zero goals by 2050.

Nabeel Uddin, Shell GTL Fuel Commercial Manager, stated, “We are pleased to partner with Your NRG as our latest branded reseller of Shell GTL Fuel. It will enable more UK customers to access Shell’s synthetic fuel to help reduce harmful tailpipe emissions.”

Shell highlights that this fuel option can lead to up to a 37% reduction in nitrogen oxide pollution for public transport vehicles and up to a 90% decrease in particulate matter for machinery like tractors and cultivators. Additional advantages of GTL Fuel include improved engine starting in cold temperatures, noise reduction in select engines, and its biodegradability and non-toxic nature.

Headquartered on Baltic Street in Hartlepool, Your NRG is the sole independently-operated oil supplier in the UK. Originating in 1924 as a coal distributor in Hartlepool, the company has evolved in tandem with the nation's changing fuel requirements.
