Talisman Sinopec Statement on Sky Cuts
Talisman Sinopec UK has responded to yesterday's news that they have cut Sky TV Services from all their installations offshore. The news which has created a lot of debate on social media is one of a measure of cuts the company has taken to reduce costs.
A spokeswoman for Talisman Sinopec UK said: “Our industry is operating in a mature environment, against a backdrop of a declining oil price and ever-increasing operating costs alongside falling production levels, reduction in exploration and asset integrity and maintenance issues.
We are not immune to those challenges and are taking appropriate actions to tackle them. As part of our ongoing review of reducing spend, we have replaced Sky TV with Freeview and BT Sport on our offshore sites which represents a saving of £600,000 per year. We are shaping the future direction of our business – and industry - to protect our long-term sustainability within the sector.”
The news comes as other installations in the North Sea cut WiFi and do away with Helicopter day news paper deliveries. The Norwegian sector seems to be weathering the storm a little better as Statoil announces they are rolling out the worlds first offshore 4G Network.
