The group of six indigenous elders from the Tiwi Islands has appealed to Environment Minister Tanya Plibersek, highlighting the imminent risk of desecration to their heritage posed by the pipeline's construction.

A petition led by NGOs is anticipated to reach Brussels, urging action against the project.

The Finnish National Bureau of Investigation asserts that the destruction resulted from an external mechanical force rather than an explosion, contradicting earlier reports from an independent Norwegian research group that hinted at a probable explosion near the pipeline.

This step follows the successful completion of the pipeline route survey, which involved a comprehensive assessment of the gas offtake routes from the developments.

While authorities suspect "mechanical force" as the cause, the presence of seismic signals resembling an explosion has triggered further investigations.

This decision follows the Ministry of Energy's directive to suspend production at the Tamar Production Platform and an escalating security situation in southern Israel.

The incident that raised concerns about regional energy security and prompted an increase in gas prices occurred on the Balticconnector pipeline connecting Estonia and Finland. Finnish authorities determined that the damage was the result of "outside activity," and an investigation is underway.

This revelation comes after Finland raised concerns about a potential deliberate act behind the damage.

The pipeline, known as the Balticconnector, has been found to be "deliberately damaged" according to Finnish authorities, with suspicions pointing to Russia.

The contract will be executed by Oceaneering's Brazilian subsidiary, Marine Production Systems, and focuses on operating three existing drill pipe riser systems.
